Taunton School students celebrate exceptional A-Level and BTEC results

Students at Taunton School Sixth Form have once again received excellent A-Level, BTEC and IB exam results.

61% of A-Level results have been graded A*-B, while 34% are either A* or A. 60% of BTEC results are Distinction or Distinction*. Combined with the International Baccalaureate (IB) results from earlier in the summer, 42% of the School’s Year 13 results are A*-A or equivalent with 73% being A*-B

The School's top 100 students across its A-Level, BTEC and IB pathways performed particularly well. 50% of their grades were A* or A, or equivalent, and 84% were A*-B or equivalent.

Jennifer Taylor, Head of Sixth Form at Taunton School, said: 'I am incredibly proud of each and every one of our students for their outstanding A-level, BTEC and IB results this year. Their hard work, determination, and resilience have been rewarded with fantastic achievements. Behind every set of results is a unique story of dedication, perseverance, and personal growth, and each student should take great pride in all they have accomplished. I am excited to see them each take their next steps, whether that be university, apprenticeships, employment, or other exciting opportunities, and I wish them every success in their future.'

In a cohort in which nine students achieved at least three A*s or the equivalent, Taunton School Sixth Form’s highest achiever is Rohan, who has achieved the top grade in each of his A-Levels in Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and Physics. Rohan has said: 'I am happy with the four A*s I have achieved: it is a good ending to the great time I have had at Taunton School.' Rohan will be studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bristol.

Congratulations should also go to Mia, who has achieved three A* grades in her A-Levels in Business, Economics and Psychology, and is going on to study Accounting and Finance at the University of Edinburgh; Ben, who has achieved three A* grades in his A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths and German, and an A grade in A-Level Physics, all alongside playing hockey for England throughout his Sixth Form studies and is going on to study Mechanical Engineering at Durham University; and Tilly, who by achieving two A* grades, in her A-Levels in English and History, plus an A grade in A-Level Maths, has confirmed her place at the University of Oxford to study History.

Oscar, Ben and Dora are the School’s highest achievers in BTEC Sport and Exercise Science this year, each receiving D*D*D*. And Freddie is the School's highest achiever in BTEC Business, achieving D*D* and also an A grade in A-Level Economics.

Earlier this summer, Taunton School’s Year 13 students celebrated their results in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, achieving an average score of 34 compared to the global average of 31. Four students achieved at least 40 points out of the maximum 45 possible, with Paul being the School's highest IB achiever with a score of 42.
