Freemen’s pupils celebrate strong A Level results
City of London Freemen’s School is celebrating another year of strong A Level
results, with 89% of grades awarded at A*–B, 67% at A*–A and 27% at A*. More
than half the cohort achieved three or more A*-A grades.
For the third consecutive year, more than two-thirds of all grades achieved at Freemen’s have been awarded at A* or A, demonstrating consistent academic achievement across the School.
Results were strong across a broad range of subjects, including Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Design & Technology, Classical Civilisation, Philosophy, Ethics and Religion, Latin, Geography and Psychology. Design & Technology achieved 83% A*–A, while Further Mathematics achieved 74% A*–A.
Girls achieved particularly strongly, with two-thirds achieving A* in Design & Technology and Business, and half achieving A* in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Boys also achieved strongly, with half achieving A* in Classical Civilisation, English Literature, Geography, Latin and Philosophy, Ethics and Religion.
Freemen’s boarders also achieved excellent results, with 34% of grades at A* and every boarder achieving A*–C.
Looking ahead, the majority of pupils are progressing to Russell Group universities, including the University of Oxford, with others heading to universities in the USA, Canada and Hong Kong, while one pupil is taking up an apprenticeship.
The breadth of destinations reflects the range of interests among the cohort, with 49 pupils progressing to STEM-related courses, including nine to engineering and three to medicine, alongside 13 pursuing history and politics-related courses, 14 economics, and others continuing into Fine Art and other creative disciplines.
Headmaster Roland Martin said: '
I am particularly pleased that we have maintained such a strong and consistent level of achievement for a third consecutive year. Just as importantly, we are seeing success across such a broad range of subjects, reflecting the opportunities our pupils have to discover what they enjoy and where their strengths lie.'
