Outstanding GCSE Success Reflects the Power of a Mayfield Education

Grade 9 emerges as the most frequently awarded grade as two-thirds of all results are awarded at grades 9-7, highlighting the exceptional achievements of Mayfield's Year 11 pupils.

Mayfield School is celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results, with Grade 9 emerging as the most frequently awarded grade across its Year 11 cohort of 86 girls.

Two-thirds of all grades were awarded at 9-7, reflecting both the exceptional achievement of pupils and the strength of Mayfield's distinctive approach to girls' education.

Headmistress Deborah Bligh said:

'I am absolutely delighted for our Year 11 pupils and for the dedicated staff and families who have supported them throughout their journey. For a school that welcomes girls with a wide range of talents, interests and academic strengths, to achieve a mean grade of 7.1, with Grade 9 as the most frequently awarded grade, is a tremendous accomplishment and one of which the entire Mayfield community can be immensely proud.

'At Mayfield, we believe that exceptional academic achievement is built on knowing every girl as an individual and encouraging her to discover and develop her unique strengths. These results demonstrate the power of an all-girls education that inspires curiosity, encourages independent thinking and enables young women to pursue their ambitions with confidence.

'As these pupils prepare to move into the Sixth Form, we look forward to supporting them as they continue to grow academically and personally, embrace new opportunities and make a positive difference in the world around them. Their future is full of promise.'
