RGS Surrey Hills celebrates three-year high in GCSE

RGS Surrey Hills pupils have outperformed GCSE expectations, with more than one in five individual results coming in at least two grades above baseline predictions.

 

The school’s 2026 GCSE results show strong academic progress across the Year 11 cohort, with pupils achieving an average Value Added of more than half a grade across their subjects.

Overall, 80% of GCSE grades were awarded at Grades 9–5, while Mathematics recorded its strongest results for the third consecutive year.

The Value Added data provides a broader picture of achievement, measuring pupils’ final GCSE results against their individual baseline predictions. Across the cohort, nearly three quarters of pupils recorded positive average Value Added, with 43% of individual subject results at least one full grade above baseline.

Headmistress, Ms. Hayley Robinson said:

'I am incredibly proud of this year group. These results tell a powerful story not only of achievement, but of progress. Three quarters of our students have exceeded their baseline predictions, with some achieving, on average, two grades higher than expected.

'That is what education at RGS Surrey Hills should be about – knowing every young person, believing in what they can achieve, and giving them the confidence, challenge and support to go beyond what they thought possible.

'These results belong to our remarkable students and to the teachers who have believed in them every step of the way.'

The results continue a period of academic progress at RGS Surrey Hills, part of the Reigate Grammar School family of schools.
