A Year of Outstanding Results at Hurst

Hurst is celebrating an extraordinary year of GCSE and A-level results, with pupils achieving impressive grades across a wide range of subjects.

At GCSE, 84.2% of all grades were awarded at Level 9-7. In total, 669 Grade 9s were achieved across all subjects, making Grade 9 the single most common grade awarded to Hurst pupils. Almost two thirds of all GCSE grades were at Grade 8 and 9, equivalent to the old A* grade. In English Language, 85.4% of grades were Level 9-7, while 88.1% of Maths grades were awarded these top grades.

The Upper Sixth also celebrated an outstanding set of A-level results, with 86.4% of all grades awarded at A*-B. Almost a quarter of all grades were A*. The achievements spanned a curriculum of 26 subjects. Among the standout successes, every Art student achieved either an A* or A grade, while students continued to excel in the EPQ, with 99% of the 83 students who completed it achieving A*-B grades. All BTEC Sport students received at least one distinction.

Dominic Mott, Head of College, said of the GCSE results: 'I was quietly confident that this year group would break the 80% level 9-7 barrier and improve on the excellent results of previous years, but these scores are even better than I had dared to hope. I couldn’t be prouder of the students, and of the staff who helped support them along the journey. The results demonstrate the tremendous commitment shown by our pupils, as well as the expertise, inspiration and encouragement provided by their teachers. They have every reason to feel immensely proud of what they have achieved.'

Reflecting on the A-level results, he added: 'Another outstanding set of results from an incredibly talented, hard working year group. These results give our pupils the grades they richly deserve, but importantly, as they leave to go to aspirational and ambitious universities, they are 'fully prepared for what comes next. I wish them all the very best as they embark on their next journey.'

Together, these results reflect the hard work and ambition shown by our students throughout their studies, and provide a strong foundation as GCSE pupils look ahead to the Sixth Form, and Upper Sixth leavers prepare for university and their next steps beyond Hurst.
