Good Food, Plenty of Choice and Something for Everyone
More than 1,000 lunches a day, seven chefs and a menu packed with fresh, healthy and tasty choices.
From sausage and mash and katsu chicken to fresh salads, poke bowls and colourful vegetable dishes, there is plenty of variety at lunchtime at Churcher’s.
Pupils can choose from a wide range of freshly prepared options, with fruit, vegetables, salads, yoghurt, granola and overnight oats helping to make it easy to enjoy a balanced meal. Fresh bread is baked every day and herbs are grown in the school’s own herb garden, with food prepared from scratch wherever possible. There are also regular themed food days, alongside plenty of familiar favourites.
And what do the pupils think? Maddie, a Churcher’s pupil, said: '
The Caesar salad is definitely one of my favourites, but I also love the themed food days because there’s always something different to try. It makes lunchtime much more exciting.' Oliver agrees: '
Sausage and mash is definitely one of my favourites, especially with apple crumble and custard!'
Behind the food is a busy catering team serving more than 1,000 pupils every school day. This year, the team has welcomed Executive Chef Lloyd and Senior Sous Chef Dan, a former MasterChef quarter-finalist. They are joined by Allergy Chef Ian, Pastry Chef Marie and two further chefs, three Food Service Assistants and a wider support team.
With two main counters, a dedicated allergy counter, pudding counter, salad bar, soup station and fresh fruit and yoghurt counter, there is something to suit every appetite and plenty of reasons to look forward to lunchtime.
