Dr Neil Hudson MP Visits Chigwell School for Sixth Form Discussion and Youth Council Insights

Last Friday, Chigwell School was pleased to welcome Dr Neil Hudson MP for a wide-ranging visit that offered pupils valuable insight into political life and public service.

Dr Hudson took part in a fast-moving Sixth Form discussion group with pupils who will be eligible to vote in the next general election. Topics included mobile phone use in schools, potential legislation aimed at limiting social media access for younger children, and proposals to broaden the range of educational courses supported by student finance. Our Sixth Formers engaged thoughtfully with the issues, sharing their perspectives and asking considered questions.

During his visit, Dr Hudson also spent time with our candidates for the upcoming Epping Forest Youth Council elections. He provided a fascinating first-hand look at the realities of political life, from constituency responsibilities to the wider demands of representing communities. Our pupils found his reflections hugely inspiring, and the opportunity to hear directly about his journey helped deepen their understanding of what meaningful political engagement can look like.

We are grateful to Dr Hudson for taking the time to visit Chigwell School and for encouraging our pupils to think critically and confidently about the world around them. The visit offered an invaluable experience in informed citizenship and active participation.
