City of London Freemen’s School

An all-through school from ages seven to 18, City of London Freemen’s in Surrey has stayed true to its benevolent roots (it was set up for orphaned children of Freemen in the City in 1854), with altruism still very much its heart and soul. It’s an ethos that pupils genuinely feel – ‘Teachers support us so much,’ says one sixth-form pupil – and, combined with a liberating focus on learning for its own sake, it brings real joy, with grades soaring as a result.
